Our capacity building training is designed with modules covering both practical and theoretical aspects of universal accessibility and policy amendment issues covering common barriers / challenges faced, myths and facts on accessibility, disability specific regulations and techniques of customer service for enhanced satisfaction. We have 25 years of experience in organizing such training. Focus – technical knowhow on universal accessibility in planning, design and implementation in projects related to built environment.

We facilitate 2, 3, 5 and 7 days capacity building training on accessibility auditing and awareness for professionals and persons with disabilities from DPOs.

Airport Terminal Operators and Airlines

Samarthyam is pioneer and only accredited organisation in the country to train all the Airlines and Airport Staff on Accessibility and Diversity & Inclusion. We undertake Training of Trainers on Disability Sensitization & Awareness as per Airport Authority of India (AAI) and Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Government of India rules.

The training focus on disability etiquettes, communication, egress, transfers of persons /passengers with disabilities & reduced mobility by airport staff, facilities and services, ground & handling staff, etc. The training also address responding to the complaints received from the passengers and accessible airport facilities including norms for hassle free travel facilitated by Airlines as per Civil Aviation Rules.

Samarthyam has authored the first Handbook on “Air travel and Sensatisation & Training”, which is published by Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment and endorsed by Director General of Civil Aviation, Airport Authority of India, airlines and other service providers of Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India.

Technical trainings and capacity building workshops are organized for State SSA Missions under Right to Education Act for engineers, block resource teachers, special education, head masters and teachers on creation of barrier free and accessible elements in the schools to mobilize children with disabilities to access ‘all’ facilities and not just few.

2004, Samarthyam has organized access sensitization programmes in schools of Delhi, Port Blair and Rangat (Middle Andaman) post-Tsunami reconstruction work and conducted several access audits with Handicap International to make schools universally accessible for children with disabilities in the island.
