Research and development of national codes and guidelines with gender lens and accessibility standards are the focus area of Samarthyam. Achievement

Samarthyam has spearheaded the inclusion of accessibility guidelines in the National Building Bye-laws; Indian Roads Congress- pedestrian facilities on roads (IRC 103, 2012); Harmonized Guidelines on Space Standards for Universal Design for Persons with Disabilities and Elderly, Ministry of Urban Development, 2015; Universal Accessibility Guidelines for pedestrian, non-motorized and public transport users, among many others. Disability inclusive design elements Toolkit and Guidelines for schools have been developed and incorporated in four major guidelines and codes of Government of India.
