Samarthyam’s focus is to promote the understanding and implementation of universal accessibility in the sustainable built, social and virtual environments, using the CRPD and SDGs.

Under its Project “National Centre for Accessible Environments”, it evaluates, develops, and promotes universal accessibility in built & outdoor environments, transportation systems, information communication technology and products.

Samarthyam is catalyst in re-designing the infrastructure set up of prime tourist spots, educational institutes, Mass Rapid Transit Systems, street & pedestrian infrastructure, etc. to make them universally accessible. Samarthyam’s team has presented more than 84 papers nationally & internationally, authored several manuals, guidelines, codes and published numerous articles. Furthermore Samarthyam undertake action oriented research projects on Building Regulations, Right of Way, and Rapid Transit Systems, etc.
