Advancing Accessibility on International Wheelchair Day
In a significant push toward inclusive travel and accessibility, Sugamya Yatra will take center stage on 1st March, International Wheelchair Day. Organized by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, in association with the Office of the Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, this event aims to champion the cause of barrier-free mobility and universal accessibility. Samarthyam, Centre for Universal Accessibility as the knowledge partner in collaboration with PDU, National Institute for Persons with Physical Disabilities (IPH), ISRLTC, and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation through Sugamya Yatra is set to provide a dynamic platform for awareness raising, advocacy, innovation, and experiential learning on making Delhi Accessible. There are students of architecture and transport planning from School of Planning & Architecture and Vastu Kala Academy who will be experiencing disabilities to get know how and space standards on accessibility.
