WASH (Water, Sanitation, Hygiene) and Development for All

Making WASH programmes more accessible, inclusive and user-friendly benefits everyone in the community, including older people, children, pregnant women and those who are ill. Samarthyam has been working on this issue for more than a decade.

  • “WASH and Development for All” is one of the campaigns of Samarthyam- a pioneering effort in India to provide accessible toilets for persons with disabilities, which are gender sensitive, age and disable friendly.
  • Access Resource group of Samarthyam facilitates capacity building trainings, WASH Audits, providing technical knowhow and expertise to make multi-use accessible washrooms and facilities both in rural and urban settings.
  • Samarthyam is working on Policy Advocacy to bring about change in the lives of persons with disabilities which is sustainable.
