Access Audits For Ministry of Urban Development

Samarthyam has undertaken a major initiative Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD), Government of India, to make Central Government buildings in the country disabled-friendly in 2010-2012.

Samarthyam has signed a MoA to access audit around 50 Central government buildings in Delhi. These are the crème de la crème of public buildings such as Prime Minister Office, Parliament House, National Museum, Supreme Court, Vigyan Bhawan, and National Gallery of Modern Art as well as Administrative buildings such as Nirman Bhawan, Shastri Bhawan, Udyog Bhawan, Sena Bhawan, Krishi Bhawan, Yojna Bhawan, Nirvachan Sadan, etc. The aim is to make not only these buildings accessible to all but also create replicable models and generate awareness and sensitization on Universal Design features through the initiative.

The findings of the access audits shall not be limited to implementation only but shall be shared and discussed with various stakeholders, service providers and concerned authorities of Delhi and other States during workshops to be jointly organized with MoUD.
